SL Pitts PC Supports Family Law CASA

Posted on Dec 17, 2019 by Christopher Pitts

Our Seattle family law firm recently attended an event supporting Family Law CASA at the Seattle Yacht Club. Court appointed special advocates, or CASAs, are volunteers who advocate for children during high conflict legal actions. Family Law CASA endeavors to enhance the well-being of children from lower income families who are caught up in high-conflict and high-risk custody cases involving factors such as domestic violence, substance abuse, criminal activity, and more. In representing these children, CASAs provide them with the support they may not receive from home, and that courts are otherwise ill-equipped to provide.

In order to raise funds and awareness for this organization, Seattle Yacht Club hosted an event for the Family Law CASA. After arriving at this event, our family law attorneys had the opportunity to meet and socialize with a number of other Seattle family law practitioners about the benefits of CASAs and the efforts to make children more comfortable during the sometimes-hard custody process.

The event featured several speakers who were told the attendees of the benefits of CASAs and how donations to the organization benefitted children throughout King County who needed the support that they may not otherwise receive during the custody process.

We hope to continue supporting this organization and others throughout King County that ensure that marital dissolution and other family law matters are as comfortable as possible for children who are otherwise unable to have their voices heard.
